Mehera Shaw is owned and run by Mark and Shari Keller. We began Mehera Shaw in 1999 with a clear commitment to developing and maintaining collaborative and supportive relationships with our suppliers and with the Jaipur community.
Prior to meeting Shari, Mark, a jeweler, had been working in Jaipur since 1987, and had developed strong ties to the culture and people of India. As a side interest, he had also focused on traditional textiles , primarily as a collector. This love of the textile crafts quickly came to the fore when Mark met Shari, in 1998. At that time Shari was completing her field research for her doctorate in anthropology, and, as a side interest, was pursuing a long held passion for clothing design. Shari had been visiting India since she was seven, and had started designing clothes and getting them made by local tailors as a young girl. As a self-taught designer, Shari developed garment design into a serious hobby during extensive stays in India; working with tailors and textile artisans, before it became her profession. As Creative Director, Shari designs original styles and several complete collections each year.
